Eye level works best
Get down to your pet's level when possible. Side or gentle three-quarter views reveal more shape than photos from above.
Choose a pose that feels like them
Sitting, standing, or lying down with the head raised can all work when the pose captures their personality.

Pick the heart photo
Choose the photo that feels most like your pet, even if it is not technically perfect.

Add supporting views
Start with 2-5 clear photos from around the same age. Front, back, both sides, and three-quarter views (slightly turned) are helpful. Include as many of these angles as you have.

The studio will tell you if another photo may work better before moving into proofing.

Details that help you begin with confidence.
Strong pet photos
- Sharp and clear enough to see fur, whiskers, face shape, and markings.
- Soft, even daylight beside a window or outside in open shade.
- Whole body in frame, with ears, nose, paws, and tail not cut off when possible.
- A range of eye-level views: front, back, both sides, and three-quarter angles where available.
- Photos from around the same age as the likeness you want preserved, rather than a mix of young and older appearances.
- A calm natural pose that feels like them.
Photos to avoid
- Blurry action shots where the face or body shape is unclear.
- Direct flash, harsh midday sun, or strong light from behind your pet.
- Your pet partly hidden by furniture, leashes, toys, hands, or glass.
- Your pet very small or far away in the frame.
- Heavy phone portrait blur that softens whiskers and fur edges.
If the photo is precious
- Send it anyway if it matters most.
- Older archive photos are welcome.
- Start with your strongest 2-5 photos. Extra angles can be emailed to hello@extradimensionprinting.com during review, with your order reference if you have one.
Questions
A few details before you begin.
Can you work from only one pet photo?
Sometimes. Several clear views from around the same age are recommended, but missing angles need not rule out a piece. If only one meaningful photo exists, email it to hello@extradimensionprinting.com and the studio will review what is possible; the form requires at least two.
Should the pet be sitting or standing?
Either can work. The best pose is the one that feels like your pet and shows their shape clearly.
Can you help choose between photos?
Yes. Send several options and the studio can advise which reference is strongest before production.
